Introduction
Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology (BIDE) has a "Diabetes Care Team" which consists of Consultant Diabetologist, Associate Diabetologist, Registrars, Podiatrist, Physiotherapist, Resident Medical Officer, Diabetes Educators & Dietitians. The team is supported by IT & research department. They work together in order to achieve a good diabetes control and prevention of diabetes & its complications.
Aims
The diet and education departments' aims are to:
  • Increase the patient's knowledge regarding self-management of diabetes.
  • Develop attitude that helps to promote metabolic status and quality of life of their patients.
  • Increase awareness regarding detection and prevention of diabetes complications.
Overview
Education of the person with diabetes & its family is a key factor in the reduction of morbidity & the need for hospital admission.
